The Axe, a Cultural, Ethnic and Religious Symbol of our Aryan Identity

(imagesource)
Published corrected, edited & images added by Kenneth S. Doig
THUNOR MID ÆXE HIS(from the Celto-Germanic Culture, Myth & History blog)
by Wotans Krieger

What I would like to do in this article is focus on why this symbol is so inextricably linked to the Germanic and other Aryan peoples.

I believe that the answer may be found in accepting that the origins of the ax are to be found in both the material realm-the ax as a weapon and as a tool and in the spiritual-the ax as a divine symbol.

As esoteric heathens we accept that what is above in Asgard is reflected here below in Midgard. The esoteric war is being fought in spiritual realms and this has been and will be reflected again in esoteric warfare here in Midgard as we approach Ragnarok.

The war that appeared to have been lost in 1945 is continuing spiritually and we fight knowing that ultimately the victory will be ours despite our own personal and petty concerns. The axe has its material physical genesis amongst the Aryan peoples. Rudolf Simek in his Dictionary of Northern Mythology states:

In northern Europe a cult of axes, in which axes unsuitable for practical use played an important role, is evident and is supported by archaeological finds dating later than the Neolithic Age. In the Bronze-Age numerous rock-carvings, and also the little bronze-figure from Grevensvaenge, indicate a widespread cult of axes which should probably be understood as a fertility-cult, as the phallic figures on the rock pictures suggest. Miniature axes as amulets are also documented since the late Iron-Age and then again in the Viking-Age.

The connection between the axe and fertility reminds me of the story in The Lay of Thrym from the Poetic or Elder Edda. Thor`s Hammer had a fertility role and was used to bless marriages.

This is why marriage despite David Cameron`s insane belief is an institution between a man and a woman which existed before `governments`, `parliaments` and `marriage certificates` ever existed.

Two homosexuals whether they be sodomites or lesbians cannot produce offspring therefore their relationship can never be viewed as a marriage.

Mother Nature instills in mankind and other species an attraction between the genders and this makes homosexuality an aberration. The votes of a few hundred unrepresentative politicians, whoring for the homosexual vote will never change that!
If they could give votes to cows, pigs and sheep they would do so and then call for the legalization of bestiality! Our ancestors spit on the likes of David Cameron and the degenerate pigs around the trough in Westminster.

Anyway returning to the main them of this article! There is as I have stated a fertility link between the ax and the hammer. It was used by everyday people to bless their families, livestock and habitations. Walter Keating Kelly in his Curiosities of Indo-European Tradition and Folk-lore states:

An ax [Thunor`s weapon] and a broom are laid crosswise on the inner side of the threshold over which the nurse has to step when she goes out with an infant to have it christened.
This is done that the babe may be safe from all the devices of the power of evil. This custom apparently prevailed in Westfalen in Germany. He does not indicate the date but it would be safe to say this was after the forced conversion of our ancestors to Christianity.

Thus the people would not have been aware of the pre-Christian significance of this custom, acting purely on instinct, another example of the workings of the Racial Unconscious or the Blood Memory. Again quoting from Kelly:

The German god`s fiery weapon was often represented as an ax  and hence it is a customary thing with witches to draw milk from the handle of an ax stuck in a doorpost. He goes on to quote a reference from Kemble:

Þunor hit þrysceþ mid þaere fyrenan aecxe. Translated into modern English: 'Thunor threshes with the fiery ax.'

Returning to Simek:

As a cult of axes is not mentioned in literary sources, it has been connected with the role of the Thor`s Hammer-Mjolnir which became a symbol of heathendom in answer to the Christian symbol of the cross. The equation of ax and hammer can be explained with the function of both cult symbols in the fertility cult.

The great age of the Germanic ax-cult, the relationship with the Cretan ax-cult and the parallels to the lightening weapons of non-Germanic gods, such as Indra`s and Hercules` clubs or Sucellos the Gaul`s hammer, all suggest an Indo-Germanic origin of the various forms of the ax.

Simek could also have mentioned of course the ax-wielding Slavic Perun and the Baltic Perkunas [Lithuanian] or Perkons [Latvian]. Recently archaeologists have identified a further 72 carved axes in five of the stones at Stonehenge via laser scanning. Quoted from The Independent 9/10/12:

In Indo-European tradition ax-heads were often associated with stormdeities – and some surviving European folklore-beliefs suggest that upwards-facing ax-blades were used as magical talismans to protect crops, people and property against lightning and stormdamage.

It’s potentially significant that every single one of the Stonehenge ax-head images have their blades pointing skywards, while the daggers point downwards. The ax-heads – the vast majority of the images – may therefore have been engraved as votive-offerings to placate a stormdeity and thus protect crops.

The link between Stonehenge and the Indo-Europeans was already known and I refer my readers to a now out of print work titled Stonehenge and the Origins of Western Culture by Leon E. Stover and Bruce Kraig. This book has an alternate title: Stonehenge:

The Indo-European Heritage. Stonehenge was built in various stages and it is clear that at the very least they were responsible for the latter phases of its construction. Brian Branston in the now classic The Lost Gods of England draws attention to the antiquity of the weapon of the Aryan thundergod:

This weapon was old, older than Thunor. The Indo-European weathergod had hurled it. It was found in Crete as the labyrinth or double-ax [lately to turn up so thought-provokingly on our own doorstep carved in the rocks of Stonehenge  Of course the Aryans, Indo-Europeans or Indo-Germanics- whichever term you prefer are known as the Battle-Ax People.

An excellent now out of print work titled The Battle Ax People , Beginnings of Western Culture by Olivia Vlahas tells the story of the Aryans in their various appearances as Kassites, Hittites, Mitanni, Hyksos, Indo-Aryans, Persians, Minoans, Mycenaeans, Greeks, Romans, Celts, Sarmatians and Teutons.

The Battle-Ax of course is what links these people together and is a prime symbol of their ethnic identity. I strongly urge you all to obtain a copy of this book as it is suitable for both Adults and older children and contains a wealth of information.

Juergen Spanuth in his ground-breaking out of print work Atlantis of the North discusses the axe cult in quite a bit of depth and explores the identity of another ax God-Fosite, a Frisian God worshipped on the island of Helgoland.

He draws a parallel between Him and the Greek Poseidon, the founder of Atlantis who originally also wielded an ax. The ax as a religious and cultural symbol actually goes back much further than the Bronze-Age, contrary to what Simek stated.

Neolithic stone-axes have also been recovered from graves. Our people and our Gods did not just arrive in the Bronze-Age: that is not the period of our genesis. It is only the period that our recorded history begins.

May I remind my readers that Mjolnir was originally a stone-hammer! As Jaan Puhvel states in his Comparative Mythology

It is thus the bolt, and it can be represented also as an [originally stone] ax....The ax  the original form of the Thunder God`s hammer goes back to Neolithic times. It has a cultural, ethnic, religious, practical and warlike significance. It cannot be divorced from who we are as Aryans. If you wear the ax consciously as a symbol of your racial and heathen identity Thunor will pour His blessings upon you

Germanic religion and mythology : in depth

Published, edited, images added and annotations/commentary (in red) by Kenneth S. Doig

(FROM:ENCYCLOPÆDIA BRITANNICA)
Germanic religion and mythology, complex of stories, lore, and beliefs about the gods and the nature of the cosmos developed by the Germanic-speaking peoples before their conversion to Christianity.

Germanic culture extended, at various times, from the Black Sea to Greenland, or even the North American continent. Germanic religion played an important role in shaping the civilization of Europe.

But since the Germanic peoples of the Continent and of England were converted to Christianity in comparatively early times, it is not surprising that less is known about the gods whom they used to worship and the forms of their religious cults than about those of Scandinavia, where Germanic religion survived until relatively late in the Middle-Ages.

The Engle or Anglii (Latin) – Angles

The Engle lived in southern Jutland and worshiped the Nerthus (Niörðr in Old-WestNorse, *Nerþuz in PGmc) or Earth Mother. Their land was called Angeln. They were known for their ability to fish (where angling comes from.) And one can see how the Angles and Saxons fed off each other. Universal Map 30293 119 Roman Empire and Germanic Migrations - C. 400CE (Google Affiliate Ad)

The Angles providing fish and boats, the Saxons keeping the region safe to the south. They practiced sacrifice of animals which were often thrown into bogs.

Unfortunately for their owners the expensive horse tack etc often went too! They, like the Saxons, worshiped Woden.

It's getting "old", peoples' using Thor, Odin, Freya, et cetera, i.e., the North-Germanic (Norse & later-formed) pronunciation of the Anglo-Saxon and continental pronunciations, OE, Thunor, Þunor,  Wóden, Frigg or their OHG or Netherlandic pronunciations, Donar, Donner, Donder, Woutan, Wotan, Wodan, etc. For more info on Odin, Woden, Click Here, Click Now! (this list is by no means complete as there was no standard orthography [spelling] in late antiquity through the the Dark-Ages,
Medieval, Renaissance up to about 100 years ago). To read more about Woden/Odin/Óðdin/Wodan/Wotan/Wuotan click here.
I have stated many times that southern Scandinavia, especially Denmark and southern Sweden is the earliest Urheimat where the mixture of tribes, dominated linguistically, racially and culturally by Indo-Europeans (IE) structurally, metrically and morphologically of the Mediterranean Race, but had long since gone through pigmentation in the IE (possibly the second, the first may have been in Anatolia, then later, after migration, to the northern shores of the Black and Caspian Seas up to about 55 degrees North. Both theories are not mutually exclusive, both Renfrew and Gimbutas might be right). By the time of dispersion from c. 3000 BC (some theorize much, much, MUCH, earlier) to 500 BC, they seem to have become Nordic, specifically the Hallstatt Nordic type, so common in Sweden today and the common racial thread that ties all Germanic peoples, ancient and modern, together. Southern Scandinavia is where these IE Nordics, also hybrids of Nordic and the equally depigmented upper-paleolithic survivors (UPS), such as the closely related Bruenn race and Borreby race. These UPS's about whose language we know nothing, were native, or at least in Northwest-Europe thousands of years before the IE's. Well this is where the Germanic people, a melange of UPS's and IE Nordics had their ethnogenesis. I've also often stated that the primary Germanic race (Hallstatt Nordic, of Indo-European derivation, who'd come from the area/s north of the BlackSea) and sub-races (not sub as in lower or not as good) are much purer, less mixed in all of Scandinavia and also Denmark, Finland, the Faeroes (Faroe of Faero are both correct) and Iceland (technically, only the large peninsula upon which the two kingdoms of Norway and Sweden sit is Scandinavia. But, as many others, I consider especially Denmark as a Scandinavian land, it's geographically so near that a bridge spans the Øresund,(Öresundsbron/Øresund-bridge) connecting Copenhagen with the main metropolitan-center of Skåne (Scania), the city Malmö. So the Kingdom of Denmark for about a decade now has a physical link to the Scandinavian peninsula, it is linguistically, culturally, racially, historically connected to Skåneland (southernmost Sweden, the län [counties] of Blekinge, Skåne and Halland.) In fact, this area of southern Sweden was the Urheimat of the Danish peoples, thence moving westwards, island-hopping all the way to the westernmost part, the Kimbric penisula, i.e., Jutland. The North-Germanic (Scandinavian) Danes occupied the then-recently vacated homelands of the Jutes (Geatas, Eotan, Ytan, etc), the Angles and the northernmost Saxons and presumably all the Ingvaeonic tibes (there were seven). So when idiots or liars say that the Gallehus-horn that has the Runic inscription touted as proto-Norse. I've also heard the horns have been dated to c. 200 AD. The truth about the real, historical figure known as Woden, Odin, Wotan, etc. Read Here! Click Now!

In common with the other Aryan races, the ancient Scandinavians recognised, as the basis of their religion, certain supernatural, usually unseen, powers ruling the world and exercising an influence on the affairs of mankind. In the ideas which prevailed as to the nature of these powers certain correspondences can be clearly traced in the various Aryan religions, in spite of the fact that our knowledge of them dates from widely different periods of history. Even the Romans, when they came into

contact with the Germanic races, noticed some of the similarities, and applied the names of several of their own deities to the corresponding figures among the barbarian gods. When closer intercourse between Roman and German had established itself, the result of these equations was made prominent in the names adopted by the latter for the days of the week, several of which, in most of the Germanic tongues, still bear witness to the old religion of the race.

Thus the counterpart of the Roman Mars was found in the god Tiw, and consequently dies Martis was rendered by forms now represented in English by Tuesday. In the same way the Roman Mercurius, Jupiter, and Venus were identified with the Germanic gods called by the English Woden, Thunor, and Frig, whence the names of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

In making these equations, of course, neither German nor Roman did more than consider are thus commemorated in the days of the week hold also a prominent place among the Scandinavian deities, where they appear under the names of Ty (Tyr), Odin (ufiinn), Thor (}>6rr), and Frigg. But while Odin and Thor actually hold the place which they might be expected to occupy as objects of worship, the warlike deity Ty has apparently become of secondary importance.

This is indicated not only by the native Scandinavian evidence, but also by what can be gleaned from external sources. In an Old English sermon1 by the Abbot iElfric, about the year 1000, the mention of some of the Roman deities leads the preacher to introduce the corresponding Danish names.

Jove or Jupiter, he says, 'was called Thor among some peoples, and him the Danes love most of all.' Mercury, too, 'was honoured among all the heathens, and he is otherwise called Othon in Danish.' Of Ty there is no mention, although Mars is one of the Roman deities specified by name. In another homily by Elfric there is the same identification of Thor and Odin, along with 'the foul goddess Venus, whom men call Frigg,' but here also Ty is ignored. More than merely negative evidence, however,

Thor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thor's Battle Against the Ettins (1872) by Mårten Eskil Winge
In Norse polytheism, Thor (from Old Norse Þórr) is a hammer-wielding god associated with thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, destruction, fertility, healing, and the protection of mankind. The cognate deity in wider Germanic mythology was known in Old English as Þunor and in Old High German Donar (runic þonar ᚦᛟᚾᚨᚱ), stemming from a Common Germanic *Þunraz (meaning "thunder").
