Chapter 1: Heroes and Heroic DeedsThe world we live in is the natural frame or reference for our views, since our lives are passed in close physical association with others, and we work closely with other people as the normal function of urban living, which is now almost synonymous with the idea of civilization.
It is natural for us to see other human beings, whether in the past or present, as social animals, Aristotle put it just that way, and for him, living in Greece in the fourth century B.C., the term was perfectly well suited.
