"JAKTEN PÅ ODIN" (THE HUNT FOR ODIN)

Preface

This Wikipedia article strengthens my positions stated by me in my earlier (very recent) posts that anyone looking for the historical figure (c. 100 BC to c. 100 AD) who we today call Woden, Wotan, Odin should be using the the correct form of the name from c. 2000 years ago. He was NOT called any name without an initial W-sound until the NGmc languages lost the initial W's before the rounded vowels, o & u  c. 700-900 AD. Looking for the real Odin using the actual word "Odin", "Oden", or the ON/Icelandic 'Óðinn' is using anachronistic forms of the same name as Woden, Wotan, Wuotan, etc. Woden/Wotan & Odin/Óðinn are not nicknames, they are the selfsame word as pronounced, most importantly through the ages and, less importantly, by different dialects. If I wanted to find the real history of the name John, already having the idea it was a Biblical Semitic name, I  would NOT go to the Holyland looking for him or the name's history using the Irish Sean or the Gaelic Iain. I'd find all the different forms of John and especially important,
